What are mortgage brokers and what do they do?

A mortgage broker brings together homebuyers and lenders so they can establish a mortgage loan between them. The broker has a wide list of mortgage lenders and can find the type of mortgage best suited to a particular homebuyer. It is like matchmaking.

The mortgage lender or banker is who originates and services the loan and the homebuyer is responsible for repayments, the mortgage broker's function is to bring them together, usually for a commission or a fee.
